ZenBusiness Renews at $199. Nothing Utah Charges an Existing LLC Reaches $20.

A transparent $99/year for registered agent representation in Utah. Address used on filings, same-day legal mail scanning, and compliance reminders are part of the rate.

Disclosure before any of the arithmetic: Utah Registered Agent.co wrote this page, sells a Utah agent appointment for $99 a year, and earns money when a ZenBusiness customer moves across. The ZenBusiness numbers are ZenBusiness's own, taken from their published pages during a July 2026 check.

Start With What They Do Well

ZenBusiness writes better software than anyone else selling this service. Saying otherwise would waste your afternoon. The dashboard is clean, the onboarding sequence rarely confuses anyone, and documents surface where a normal person expects to find them. If your last provider made you hunt through a 2009-era portal for a scanned summons, the difference is real and you will feel it on day one.

None of that is the problem with the offer.

The Opening Price and the Standing Price Are Different Numbers

Buy the agent service by itself, with no formation package attached, and year one costs $99 plus whatever the state collects. From the second year onward the price is $199.

That structure is disclosed and it is legal, so the criticism here is narrow: the number worth comparing is the one you will pay in most years of owning the company. You pay $99 once. You pay $199 in year two, year three, and every year you stay. Comparing an introductory rate against a flat rate is comparing a moment against a decade.

Once your company exists, every fee Utah charges it sits under twenty dollars. The annual renewal is $18. Moving the agent appointment is $17. A late renewal adds $10. That is the whole recurring ledger.

The $18 rewards a closer look, because it is not one fee. It is $13 for the renewal itself plus a $5 surcharge for the UtahID single sign-on that lets you into the state's filing system. Utah charges five dollars for the login and prints it in the total rather than hiding it at the payment screen.

Now set a $199 renewal against that ledger. It is eleven Utah renewals with a dollar to spare. The state's entire annual demand on your company costs less than a tenth of what the interface costs.

Our Row

$99 a year, with a renewal invoice identical to the opening one, since no introductory rate exists here that would eventually have to expire into something bigger. Anything served on your company at our Utah address is scanned before we close that day and posted to your account with an email behind it. Our street address appears on your public filing instead of yours. Everyday business post can be scanned too, at $15 per item, and that single line is the entire menu of extras, published here instead of turning up later on an invoice.

We are not the smallest figure in this market. A $90 annual rate is published by BetterLegal, nine dollars beneath ours, and a page built on comparing printed prices has no business skipping the printed price that hurts it. The defensible version is narrower: our $99 sits in the lowest band of Utah rates anyone publishes, scanning is included rather than charged as an extra, and the number does not move.

Moving Off ZenBusiness in Utah Costs $17

One filing does it, and Utah does not number its forms, so there is no code to look up. The Division of Corporations and Commercial Code publishes a registration information change form for LLCs that updates the agent of record. Processing runs $17, non-refundable, and the amount does not change if you skip the paper and make the update inside the state's online filing portal, which opens with a UtahID account.

There is also a way to pay nothing. Utah collects no processing charge when an agent change rides along inside your annual renewal, so the month your entity was originally registered is the cheapest month of the year to do this.

Four steps, in order:

  1. Enroll with us and take the exact agent name and Utah street address we send you.
  2. Put the company's registered name, its state entity number, and the incoming agent's information on the change form, whether on paper or on screen.
  3. Pay the $17, or fold the change into the renewal and pay nothing.
  4. Pull your entity up in the state business search a few days later and confirm the new agent shows.

Sequence matters more than speed. Get us appointed before you cancel ZenBusiness, never the reverse. Utah expects that field occupied continuously, and the gap people create by cancelling first is exactly the stretch in which a served complaint has nowhere to land. Overlapping coverage for a week costs you nothing. A blank line can cost you a default judgment.

ZenBusiness signs nothing and gets no vote in this. The outgoing agent is informed by the state record changing, not by asking permission.

What You Are Actually Choosing Between

A hundred dollars a year, forever, is the price of the nicer interface. In a state where the government's own recurring charge is $18, that hundred dollars is the largest compliance number in your budget by a distance, and it buys presentation rather than standing. Utah applies identical duties to a $199 agent and a $99 one: an address inside Utah, somebody findable there during the working day, and papers moved along promptly.
