LegalZoom Charges $249 a Year in Utah. Utah Charges $17 to Replace Them.
A transparent $99/year for registered agent representation in Utah. Address used on filings, same-day legal mail scanning, and compliance reminders are part of the rate.
Read this knowing who published it. Utah Registered Agent.co holds Utah agent appointments at $99 a year, so the recommendation at the bottom is the thing we sell. The LegalZoom pricing described here is LegalZoom's, recorded from their own published pages in July 2026, and we have not adjusted it in our favor.
The Brand Is Worth Something
LegalZoom is the one company in this market an ordinary business owner can name without being prompted, and that is not nothing. Two decades of operating history, published terms you can read before paying, a support organization that exists, a name your accountant recognizes. Buyers who want the familiar option are making a defensible choice, and no honest comparison page should sneer at it.
The narrow question is what the familiarity changes about the job itself.
$249, Flat, Auto-Renewing
LegalZoom bills $249 a year for registered agent service. It renews on schedule without asking. We went looking in July 2026 for some discount on the opening year and did not find one at any membership level.
Credit where it belongs: this is not teaser pricing. Year seven costs what year one costs, a claim several competitors here cannot make. It is also the highest flat annual rate anyone publishes for holding a Utah appointment.
Put $249 Next to Utah's Own Counter
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereUtah is an unusually cheap place to keep a company on file. Forming one costs $59. Keeping it alive costs $18 a year. Moving the agent appointment costs $17.
So $249 is fourteen agent changes at the Division's counter, with eleven dollars left in your pocket. It is more than the state would charge to form your LLC, renew it for eight years, and swap agents twice along the way. When the government's entire annual demand is $18 and the vendor's is $249, the vendor is not a line item in your compliance budget. It is the budget.
What $99 Covers Here
Our Utah street address goes on the public filing where your home address would otherwise sit. Service of process handed to us is imaged the same business day and pushed to your portal with a notification attached, because a Utah response clock starts when papers are served and not when somebody gets around to opening an envelope. State correspondence travels the same route. Renewal reminders arrive before your anniversary month closes. The second-year price is $99, as is the tenth, since we never ran a discount that would need withdrawing.
That $99 sits near the bottom of published Utah rates rather than at the very bottom, because BetterLegal prints $90, and a page complaining about vendors who omit inconvenient numbers should not omit one.
Replacing LegalZoom on Your Utah Record
The Division of Corporations and Commercial Code takes a single change filing to swap the agent on an LLC record. Utah assigns it no number, prints a $17 non-refundable processing fee on it, and accepts it either on paper or through the state's online registration system. Time the change to land with your annual renewal and the $17 is waived entirely.
Our change of agent page carries the field-by-field walkthrough, the online path, and the record check afterward. Two points belong here rather than there.
First, LegalZoom's consent is not part of this. The outgoing agent does not sign the form and cannot slow it down; the appointment moves when the state records it.
Second, order the appointments correctly. Sign with us before you cancel LegalZoom, so the new agent is already on file when the old subscription ends. Utah does not accept an empty agent line, and a cancelled provider still printed on your record is worse than either arrangement: mail arrives at an address nobody is watching. A few overlapping days cost nothing.
The Comparison in One Line
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereFourteen years of the difference between $249 and $99 would fund every filing fee a Utah LLC could plausibly incur across its whole existence, several times over. Utah imposes one standard on the expensive agent and the cheap one alike: a genuine street address inside the state, somebody reachable at it through business hours, and papers forwarded promptly. Whether a recognizable logo justifies two and a half times the price is the only real question, and it is yours to answer.
