Utah Publishes Every Fee It Charges. Inc Authority Publishes One of Them.
A transparent $99/year for registered agent representation in Utah. Address used on filings, same-day legal mail scanning, and compliance reminders are part of the rate.
Because this page ends in a recommendation, the interest behind it comes first: Utah Registered Agent.co collects $99 a year from every Utah appointment it holds, including any that arrives because of what follows. The description of Inc Authority's offer reflects their own published site as of July 2026.
The Free Year Is Real
Form a company through Inc Authority and registered agent service is included for twelve months at no charge. No catch hides inside that: a free year is a free year. For a founder watching every dollar in month one, opening coverage at zero is worth taking, and the formation package carrying it costs nothing beyond the state's own filing fee.
Our objection concerns month thirteen.
The Number That Does Not Appear
Utah publishes its entire price list on one document. The FY2026 schedule, effective July 1, 2025, prints $59 to organize an LLC, $18 to renew it, $17 to change the agent on the record, $10 if the renewal is late, and $54 to bring back a company that expired. Five numbers, one page, no account required to read them.
Inc Authority has no equivalent page for its agent renewal. We went through their published site in July 2026 looking for what year two costs, the way any shopper would before committing, and found the $0 stated everywhere and the renewal stated nowhere. Inventing a number to fill that hole is not something we will do. The pattern this market follows with a missing price is that it gets quoted during checkout or over the phone, at the point where switching has already become inconvenient.
A free year attached to an unnamed renewal is not the same product as a published price. It is a published price and a blank.
Why the Blank Matters More in Utah Than You Would Think
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereUtah's renewal falls on the last day of your anniversary month, and the filing window opens roughly sixty days ahead of it. Miss it and $10 goes on top. Keep missing it and the state does something with a deceptively gentle name: after two years past due, the company expires, which is Utah's term for administrative dissolution. Getting it back costs $54 plus whatever went unpaid.
Two years sounds like plenty of warning until you ask where the warnings go. They go to the agent address on file. An agent you stopped paying attention to, or one whose renewal invoice surprised you into cancelling, is exactly the agent who is holding your notices when the fuse is burning. The $99 is not really buying an $18 filing. It is buying somebody who reads that mail and tells you while the window is still open.
Utah's Actual Free Option, Since We Are Discussing Free
There is one arrangement in this state that costs nothing permanently rather than for a promotional year. Your LLC may not put its own name on the agent line, and yet Utah's registered-agent law will accept a designated internal role there, sending process to whichever person is carrying that role when papers arrive.
The condition is not money. It is a Utah street address, or a rural route box, standing behind that designation and visible to anyone who searches your entity, with a person reachable there through normal business hours. A PO box can trail the street address but never replace it. Run the Utah company from another state and there is no address to name. Run it from your house and the address is your house. If neither is true, this route is legitimate and free, and you should know it exists before anyone sells you a first year.
What We Publish
$99 for the first year and $99 at every renewal, two numbers sitting on our pricing page ahead of any order and without a phone call. Service of process scanned the day it reaches us and delivered electronically with a notice. Division mail handled the same way. Reminders ahead of your anniversary month, which is the point of the whole arrangement.
Ours is among the lowest published rates in this market, not the lowest, and that distinction belongs to BetterLegal at $90 a year.
Leaving Inc Authority: What Utah Asks For
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereOne filing with Utah's corporations division does it, at $17 non-refundable, or at nothing if it accompanies your annual renewal, and our change of agent page walks through the form, the online option, and the record check.
The single thing worth getting right is the ordering. Put the new appointment on file before the old one ends, because the risk in a switch is never two agents at once. It is zero agents at once, with your notices arriving somewhere nobody is looking.
Free is a fine price for a year. After that, the only comparison that works is between numbers you can both read.
